About PARC

Organizational History

The Carroll Association for the Prevention of Sexual Assault was created in 1993 by a group of concerned citizens. Their purpose was to provide free and confidential services to victims of sexual assault and their family and friends. The organization was incorporated in Georgia on August 22, 1994, as the Carroll County Rape Crisis Center. On January 28, 1997, the organization received its approval as a recognized section 501 (c) (3) organization. In March of 2011, the Board of Directors voted to change the name of the organization to the West Georgia Rape Crisis Center Inc. to more accurately describe the service area of Carroll, Coweta, Haralson, and Heard Counties. On January 14, 2015, the Board voted to change its name to the West Georgia Prevention & Advocacy Resource Center Inc. to more accurately describe the services provided to the citizens of the area. Also, the acronym of PARC was chosen to assist with brand identity and community outreach.
